This project required me to take a local restaurant here in Lynchburg, Virginia and create a new identity for them, beginning with a new logo. I chose the Stoney Badger Tavern, as their old logo was complicated and outdated. I really liked the contrast of an orange and black color scheme and decided to make that the focus of the branding content. I set a badger front and center on a faint background of stones, so as to tie it into the name "Stoney Badger" as obviously as I possibly could. I also chose to use a different font for the word "Tavern" than the rest of the logo, a font that would link this tavern to a classic tavern sign you'd see hanging in any old time frontier town. The badger itself I created by tracing an image of a walking badger and then filling it in black and white to simplify it. I feel that this gives the logo an aesthetic that brings a touch of modernity to a classic establishment.
